Chapter 08
Set up phone check-in
Employees swipe to check in or out in the Stafrix app, and it only works when they are at your workplace. Two steps: set the place, then choose how to stop people checking in for each other.
Admins open SettingsPhone check-in.
Step 1: Turn it on and set your workplace
- Turn on “Allow check-in from a phone”
- Set where the workplace isBest: stand at the workplace with your phone and tap Use my current location. Wait until it says it is accurate to a few metres. You can also type the latitude and longitude from a map.
- Choose the radiusCheck-in works within this distance of the workplace. Phones indoors can be off by 20 to 50 m, so 100 to 200 m suits most sites.
- Save
Step 2: Stop people checking in for each other
Being at the workplace isn’t enough on its own. These settings stop one person checking in for another. Turn on the ones you need; each one says exactly what it stops.
| Protection | What it does | Plan |
|---|---|---|
| Fingerprint or face on their own phone | Each check-in needs the employee’s fingerprint or face on their own phone, using the phone’s own lock (its PIN, pattern or password on phones without a fingerprint sensor). A phone can hold only one employee’s check-in key. Works in the Stafrix app. | Business and above |
| One phone, one person | A phone that one employee checks in from can’t be used by anyone else. Already covered when fingerprint or face is on. | All plans |
| Selfie with every check-in | The employee takes a photo when they check in. You see it next to the punch. | Business and above |

The section What you’re protected against lists the usual ways people try to check in for someone else and whether your current settings stop each one.
New phones to approve
When an employee changes their phone, the new phone appears under New phones to approve. Approve it if they really changed phones; reject it if you don’t recognise it.
Write to us and a person from the Stafrix team will answer.
